Strength togetHER 3- Session 4

Strength Together facilitated by Lokopakar is a virtual program that lets girls voice their opinions, ideas, and even share their own stories be it personal or outside related. It targets for enhancement of youths while girls are present with an honorable moderator to provide them suggestions and feedbacks. It has been a blissful ride from session 1 to session 4.

 

Our moderator for this session was Ms. Amina Shrestha. She is a proud single mother and teacher. She has finished her MBA from Kathmandu University. She is currently educating at Uniglobe college. She is the perfect example of a brave, heroic, and courageous person. Our last session with her where she shared her personal experience totally inspired all of us and now, she is again here with us to encourage us with her tender words.

 

Our topic for this very session was “Power within us”. The topic itself gives us a hint about what we were talking about. It explains to us the ultimate power that we girls have which is both intangible and tangible. Being female is great; we have amazing features and benefits. We girls are gifted with a lot of attributes which we often forget to acknowledge; so, our moderator and girls in this session came up with various traits being a girl and cherished about it. Our society is a divergent community of girls and boys but it’s a shame that we girls are time and again blamed for having equal freedom as boys. Some of the quirk being a girl:

 

•           Giving birth to a child. Women are the only gender who can give birth to a child. Women are gifted as they can become and called as a mother.

•            Women have so many options in literally everything. Clothing, its fabric types, it’s design types, its style types. Men have to stick to the same old pants and shirts. Women too can wear those, but men don’t wear skirts and dresses. Women enjoy a wide variety of wardrobe choices.

•           Women are always first. Have you ever heard about “Women’s first?”. Women are always prioritized and always given privileges as per. We women are often right and first to do.

•           Gaining more pampering. Girls are always offered assistance than boys. In a comparison between the gender’s we girls are offered more help.

•           Girls are trustworthy. Girls are very much trustworthy. We know how to keep secrets and how it can be in favor of us.

•           Girls are more aesthetically pleasing. We are 7.6 billion people living on this earth and yet girls who contribute 3.8 billion are more attractive. For example; if a girl posts a new post on her Instagram, she easily gains likes, but it is not that easy for boys.  

 

These are not the only quirks that a female has there are more to be written. We girls are the future. We are courageous, risk-taker, and future leaders. If we look closely, we females have been resilient to so many social customs and fought for our rights. We are the upcoming and currents leaders.  We need to back up each other and grab this world together.

 

This session was ended by giving us girls confidence and empowerment that we all needed. Nothing else is exciting than sharing girls sharing their ideas and beliefs.  Our session was nailed by our speaker and moderator. Looking forward to another awesome session like this one.
